Toddler Program
Toddler Program (18 Months – 3 Years)
At Atlantis Montessori Academy, we view the earliest years of life as a time of incredible growth, joy, and discovery. Our Toddler Program is thoughtfully designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years, supporting their natural curiosity while gently guiding them toward independence, confidence, and connection. Our classrooms provide a calm, nurturing environment where learning is both purposeful and joyful. Children are encouraged to explore, make choices, and begin developing the foundational skills that will support them for years to come.
To ensure success in the classroom, children must be steady walkers before joining the program. With a small group size, each child receives individualized attention while also learning alongside peers in a supportive community.

Building Independence
Toddlers have a strong desire to do things for themselves and we honor that. Our environment is carefully prepared so children can participate in daily routines independently. From washing hands and preparing simple snacks to cleaning up their work, children are given real tools sized just for them. Teachers gently guide self-care skills, including toilet learning, dressing, and practical life activities. As children gain these skills, they also build something even more important: confidence in themselves and their ability to navigate their world.
Social & Emotional Growth
In our toddler community, children begin forming meaningful relationships with both peers and teachers. They learn how to express their needs, recognize their emotions, and develop empathy for others.
Through consistent routines and respectful guidance, children begin to practice patience, cooperation, and self-regulation. These early social experiences lay the groundwork for strong emotional intelligence and healthy relationships later in life.
A Thoughtfully Prepared Environment
Our toddler classroom was designed entirely with the young child in mind. Everything—from the furniture to the materials is accessible, inviting, and appropriately scaled. The space is calm, organized, and intentionally simple, allowing children to focus and engage deeply in their work. Rather than overwhelming stimulation, we offer meaningful activities such as art, music, gardening, and hands-on materials that support both fine and gross motor development. Language is woven into every part of the day, supporting communication, vocabulary, and self-expression.
Freedom Within Structure
Movement and choice are essential at this stage of development. Children are free to move throughout the classroom, select activities, and repeat them as often as they wish. Teachers observe closely and introduce new lessons at the right moment, allowing each child to progress at their own pace. Mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process, fostering resilience and problem-solving skills. Through movement and repetition, children refine coordination, strengthen concentration, and build independence naturally.
Cultivating a Love of Learning
A hallmark of Montessori education is a child who is deeply engaged and genuinely happy in their work. In our toddler classrooms, you will see children who are confident, curious, and connected. By honoring each child’s natural development and allowing them to learn through exploration, we help foster a lifelong love of learning one that comes from within.
What Comes Next?
As children approach age three, their language, independence, and social awareness grow rapidly. When they are ready, they transition into our Primary Program (ages 3–6), where they continue building on the strong foundation established in the toddler environment.
