Primary Program
Primary Program (Ages 3–6)
At Atlantis Montessori Academy, the Primary years are a time of remarkable growth. Children are becoming more independent, more expressive, and deeply curious about the world around them. Our Primary Program, designed for children ages 3 to 6, supports this stage by providing a calm, engaging environment where children can explore, create, and build confidence. Within a supportive community, each child is guided to develop a strong sense of independence, responsibility, and a genuine love of learning.

Growing Independence & Confidence
During these years, children are eager to do more for themselves and we support that every step of the way.
In the Primary classroom, children take an active role in their daily routines. They care for their environment, prepare simple food, organize their work, and develop practical life skills that build both independence and self-confidence.
As they master these everyday tasks, they begin to see themselves as capable and responsible individuals.

A Child-Led Learning Experience
Our classrooms are designed to follow the child. Teachers carefully observe each student and introduce lessons at just the right moment, based on their readiness and interests. Rather than learning in large groups, children receive individualized or small group lessons and then continue their work independently. This allows children to learn at their own pace spending extra time where needed and advancing when they are ready.

A Rich and Meaningful Curriculum
Children in the Primary Program are introduced to a wide range of subjects through hands-on, engaging materials.
Each lesson is designed to be experienced through the senses, helping children truly understand, not just memorize, what they are learning.
They explore:
-
Language, including early reading and writing
-
Mathematics, moving from concrete materials to deeper understanding
-
Practical life skills like cooking, cleaning, and caring for their space
-
Cultural studies, including science, nature, geography, and the world around them
-
Spanish and global awareness
Learning Together
Our mixed-age classrooms create a natural sense of community. Younger children learn by observing and interacting with older peers, while older children gain confidence and leadership skills by helping guide and support others. This dynamic builds strong social connections and a sense of belonging. Throughout the day, children also come together for group moments like songs, stories, and shared experiences, as well as time outdoors to explore, play, and connect with nature.
Social & Emotional Development
In addition to academics, we place great importance on helping children develop strong social and emotional skills.
Through gentle guidance and daily interactions, children learn how to express themselves, solve problems, and treat others with kindness and respect. These early experiences help build empathy, confidence, and emotional awareness that will support them throughout life.
Focus, Concentration & a Love of Learning
Our classrooms are calm, purposeful, and designed to support deep concentration. With uninterrupted work periods and meaningful activities, children naturally develop the ability to focus, complete tasks, and take pride in their work. This sense of accomplishment fosters intrinsic motivation and a lasting love of learning.
What Comes Next?
As children grow in independence, confidence, and academic readiness, they prepare to transition into the next stage of their journey. When ready, students move into Atlantis Montessori Academy’s Elementary Program (ages 6–12), where their curiosity and love of learning continue to expand.
